 The Class "Clyde 17/19"

Hatasoo Late 1890's

The class of Clyde 17/19 first appeared around 1886, with the rules set by 1888.

Length on the waterline of 17 feet, length overall of 19 feet. 

Maximum sail area of 530 Square feet. This was later reduced to 470 square feet at the tail end of            1892.  Hatasoo just came in with a foot to spare at 469 square feet.

In the yard list for William Fife & Son there are eleven 17/19 yachts listed.  The Bermudan Clyde of Lapwing is a mystery to me. Info welcome.

Any information for the yachts designed by GL Watson would be appreciated.  I believe they were the only 2 designers for the class.
